Mission Statement

Cynthiana Presbyterian Church founded in 1829

Is an active, vital group of disciples.

The Holy Spirit leads us to minister

To the needs of our members,

To reach out to the whole community,

And to participate in the church universal.

Christ inspires us to share

Our faith, our facilities, and our resources.

In praising God, we provide Biblical preaching,

Christian education, and the sacraments.

We strive through our daily witness

To serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

This church welcomes all people

To use their God-given gifts

In His ministry.

Main Cup

The Main Cup is a mission outreach program of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church and opened its doors on Monday, November 5, 2018.  The mission of the coffee shop is to provide a place to form relationships and serve a great cup of coffee.  We hope to meet people where they are and to nurture and develop the relationships that are formed there.

The Main Cup celebrated its 5th anniversary in 2023.  It's a wonderful place to catch up with friends, meet new people, enjoy coffee, hot chocolate, lattes, etc. as well as partake in soup, sandwiches and other goodies.

The Main Cup is closed on Sundays but is open on Monday thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Hope to see you soon at The Main Cup!

Very special days at the Main Cup in May. May 2nd is Harry Potter Day. The next day (May 3rd) our First Friday Mission is Helping Hounds. On that day, 20% of sales go to help the adoptions of furry friends. On Saturday, May 4th is Derby day. The shop is planning great food and fun giveaways for the Run for the Roses. Check Facebook / Instagram often to see the events.

Our goal at The Main Cup, other than serving a delicious cup of coffee is to continue to support local organizations and missions who are in need every month, as well as our house charity Living Waters for The World!  The photos are of the latest two recipients. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our Friday Mission's!

During our 5th anniversary we posted all of the organizations that we have supported the past 5 years. We couldn’t do this without your help.

The Main Cup is now selling merchandise. Come check out the new t-shirts, mugs, and stickers! There is also a great selection of pottery by Match Stick Goods for sale.

I came out of retirement to be interim pastor of this church. I was impressed with this church and the congregation when i came as a pulpit supply minister, and one thing led to another. I’m out of retirement and having a wonderful time serving this church. I went to seminary a bit later in life, and have had no regrets. My faith background is rather colorful; I was born into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, left it when my mother had some sort of fallout with the priest. We joined the Lutheran Church down the street because my mother didn’t drive! Dad stayed a devout member of the Orthodox church for the remainder of his life. I became presbyterian by marriage. My “home“ church is Maxwell Street Presbyterian in Lexington where I was deeply involved in so many mission projects, one of them became a catalyst for my entry into seminary. I’ve served churches in Kentucky as well as West Virginia. I’m also a lifeguard (one of the few “senior“ ones), and a swim instructor at the High Street YMCA in Lexington. I love gardening, having gardens in my front yard! My wife Cindi sings in the MSPC choir, is a deacon and is the rock of our family. My son John is a pastor in Louisville, he and his wife Katherine have a son, Burnam (yes, he’s named after the church camp), my daughter Stephanie is a nurse in Lexington, she and her husband Matt have a son, Andrew. Please feel free to contact me on my cell - 859-312-0437.
